Spilling Cocoa Over Martin Amis is a website dedicated to the serious art of writing humorous poetry. A new poem will be published here roughly once a week, or more/less frequently depending on the number and quality of submissions received.
The site is named in honour of Wendy Cope, one of the few poets who has successfully managed to sneak humour into the heart of the literary establishment. The original idea was to take the title of her poem and collection Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis by making it more relevant for the next generation by renaming it Making Cocoa for Martin Amis. But then it was felt that it would be truer to the spirit of the site if it became a bit less subservient and a bit more clumsy.
The picture of Mr Amis is via Wikipedia, from this photograph by Maximilian Schönherr taken in a hotel suite in Cologne, Germany, in 2012.
